Shared Governance

Philosophy

MCC affirms and supports shared governance, which is the formal process of collaborating, delegating, recommending, and making decisions related to the issues affecting MCC.

Everyone at the College is valued and shared governance recognizes and takes into account the roles and expertise of trustees, faculty, staff, administrators, officers, and students. MCC is committed to utilizing the expertise of all constituents to inform decision making as appropriate.

Administrators Association

Functions and responsibilities

The MCC Administrator’s Association has been formed to:

  • to represent the collective voice of the administrators in the shared governance model at MCC
  • to provide a forum for discussion, idea exchange and professional growth/development among MCC administrators and
  • to serve as an advisory council and educational resource to college leadership, particularly regarding issues and policies affecting the welfare and development of administrators at MCC

Chancellor's Advisory Council

Functions and responsibilities

  • Serve as a forum to strengthen communication and sharing information.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity (non-voting) to the chancellor on topics related to the college as they may impact each constituent group (incubation space).
  • Learn from other colleagues across the college through shared conversation

College Policy Review Committee (CPRC)

Functions and responsibilities

To serve as an advisory group designed to engage internal constituencies in policy and procedure development. 


District Instructional Coordinating Committee (DICC)

Functions and responsibilities

​​​​​​​In order to carry out the mission of the district, the faculty and administration have a joint responsibility to develop degree and certificate programs which meet the educational needs of the community, and which are rigorous to maintain appropriate academic standards. The faculty and the administration have an obligation to review all programs periodically and to revise them when necessary to assure that they are sufficiently up to date to meet all current needs. The vice chancellor of academic affairs is responsible for supervising the process of curriculum approval and revision with the assistance of effort by the district instructional coordinating committee. 


District Staff Council

Functions and responsibilities

Our goals are to advocate for and represent staff from all levels and backgrounds through transparent, two-way communication and action; and to promote involvement and awareness of the staff association in an effort to build community by focusing on personal interaction, in support of MCC’s mission.


District Strategic Planning Committee (DSPC)

Functions and responsibilities

Review yearly strategic plan tactics in consultation with key stakeholders in alignment with organizational vision and goals. Evaluate recommendations from the college community for facilitating the execution of the District’s strategic plan goals.


District Technology Coordinating Committee (DTCC)

Functions and responsibilities

The committee will analyze technology district-wide for strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The committee will evaluate district-wide technology effectiveness. The committee will recommend a prioritized innovative list of technology projects for improvement.


Employee Learning and Development Council

Functions and responsibilities

This council will be charged with an ongoing review of the learning and development programs at MCC and how they grow and develop the people infrastructure at MCC and alignment/growth of career development and advancement for employees.

Student Experience Council

Functions and responsibilities

The Student Experience Council provides for coordination and communication in college efforts and initiatives directed at improving the student experience and creating a culture of student success and engagement.  They provide oversight and input into policies and procedures that have an impact to the students at MCC.   This council also works to improve efficiencies, reduce duplication, and enhance engagement in all student success efforts across the district.  


Total Rewards Council

Functions and responsibilities

The Total Rewards Council will review, evaluate, and recommend wellness program proposals and proposals for voluntary benefits from outside vendors to the CHRO.
