What are pathways?

With 120+ degrees and certificates grouped into eight academic and career pathways, the path to your future begins at MCC. Each academic and career pathway is designed to introduce you to broad fields of study and help you identify potential majors and careers.

We will help you design a plan to meet your career goals, whether your plan is to enter the workforce directly after graduation or transfer to a four-year university to continue your studies.

We provide personalized advising to help you choose a path, stay on the path and graduate. And if you change your mind along the way, your MCC success network will help you move to a career path that's right for you.

Pathways

Applied technology and manufacturing pathway - Whether it is the technicians who keep our homes cool, the mechanics who keep our cars on the road or the technicians that keep our factories and critical infrastructure running, we depend on professional technicians who have mastered the skills of their trade.  Some programs in this pathway include automotive technology, construction management, lineman, HVAC, Millwright and Welding.

Arts, humanities, language and communications pathway - Express yourself and choose from a broad range of creative careers with the arts, humanities, language and communication career pathway. Careers include social media, acting, graphic design, communications, journalism and art. Some programs in this pathway include graphic design, speech and theater, foreign language and music.

Business pathway - Prepare to thrive in the ever-changing global economy through the business pathway. Careers include accounting, management, project management, logistics, retail management, hospitality, and human resources. Some programs in this pathway include accounting, business, hospitality, logistics and retail management.

Education pathway - Ignite young minds and pursue a fulfilling career in teaching through the education academic and career pathway. This pathway prepares you to teach in early childhood, elementary and secondary school settings.

Exploratory pathway - On the exploratory pathway you’ll be encouraged to investigate and explore areas of creative, intellectual and professional interest and to work closely with your academic advisor to successfully complete the Associate of Arts (A.A.)

Health sciences pathway - Serve others and choose from dozens of rewarding careers through the health science academic and career pathway. MCC offers programs in the some of these high-demand careers include nursing, medicine, dental, medical coding/billing, physical and occupational therapy and allied health fields.

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) pathway - STEM is one of the fastest growing industry in the nation and earning your degree will lead to well-paid positions and long-lasting careers in a job market that is expected to grow at nearly twice the pace as non-STEM workers. Some programs in this pathway include agriculture, computer aided drafting and design (CADD) technology, cybersecurity, engineering technology, mathematics, software development, and veterinary technology.

Social sciences and public service pathway - Heroes make a difference in our lives every day. Choose from an array of MCC's people-focused programs including criminal justice, public service, economics, social work, law enforcement, fire science, politics, government and homeland security.
