A phlebotomy technician is a healthcare professional who collects and transports specimens
to the medical
laboratory for medical testing, which aids the physician in diagnosis and treatment
monitoring.
Training in the MCC Phlebotomy Program includes anatomy and physiology, safety and infection control, blood collection procedures, standards of practice, quality assurance, legal issues and professionalism and integrity.
This class is aligned with the requirements for the ASCP national certification.

- Completed MCC application
- The Phlebotomy program has many additional requirements that must be met for attendance
in
the clinical portion of the course. A complete list of required immunizations will be provided at the time of
enrollment. Individual costs will vary, but can be up to an additional $600.
Careers
Phlebotomists collect blood and urine samples for lab analysis. They usually work
under the supervision
of physicians, nurses, medical technologists or managers in hospitals, labs or physicians’
offices. The program curriculum aligns with national phlebotomy certifications. Phlebotomists
work in many health care settings, including:
