Earn college credit while in high school with dual enrollment.
Dual-enrolled students take MCC classes before completing their high school diploma/certification.
A dual-enrolled student is enrolled in both college coursework and high school (or homeschool) coursework at the same time.
The two programs operate separately, and students receive college credit upon successful completion of their dual-enrollment courses. In some cases, a student's college credit may count toward the high school/homeschool certification only if the high school or homeschool association approves it. These courses are taught via online delivery by MCC instructors.
Save time and money
- Tuition for dual-enrolled students is half the cost of standard tuition (based on the status of in-district, out of district, or out of state) until they graduate high school.
- Students who take one dual enrollment class per semester in their junior and senior years will complete one semester of college before graduating high school.
The enrollment process
-
Applying for admission is free and only takes a few minutes. To apply for admission, complete the steps below:
- Create an application portal account. Students should provide a personal email to receive their MCC Student ID number and temporary password.
- Fill out the general admissions application. Providing a social security number (SSN) allows the student to create their own password for their myMCCKC portal.
- Accept admission offer through the application portal. This step generates the student’s MCC Student ID number that they will need for placement testing and for the registration process. If they do not receive this email, they should contact (816) 604-1000 for assistance.

Students have several options for providing placement data:
- Students can send an official 4th‑semester (or later) high school transcript to MCC to be evaluated for placement. College-level placement requires a 3.0 or higher for
English and Reading and a 3.3 or higher unweighted cumulative GPA for Math.
- Official ACT scores from within the last three years can be reviewed for placement for students without an eligible transcript or GPA.
Scores of 18 or higher are required for college-level English and Reading, and 22
or higher for college-level Math.
- The free ACCUPLACER assessment can be completed through MCC either virtually via Zoom or in person at an MCC campus testing center. For help scheduling virtual placement testing, contact on.admissions@mcckc.edu and we will connect you with a testing center for additional assistance.

-
- High school students who plan to enroll in MCC-Online classes are strongly encouraged and may be required to attend a Dual Enrollment Registration Session with MCC-Online prior to enrollment. At the Dual Enrollment Registration Session, students will learn important information about attending college and meet with a college employee to enroll in classes.
- Students whose high schools do not have a coordinated Dual Enrollment program with MCC-Online or who are home-school students can contact the MCC-Online Admissions Office to discuss Dual Enrollment options and sign up for a New Student Advising and Enrollment Session.
- Students who are under the age of 16 and their parent or guardian must also meet with the Student Success Manager one-on-one prior to enrollment.
Don't Just Take Our Word For It.
“One of the best parts about MCC-Online was the convenience of being able to learn wherever and whenever I needed. The most helpful preparation I was able to receive from this experience was the value of keeping a schedule.
Since I learned to manage my time in college classes while still in high school, it has helped me with creating a less stressful work environment for myself as I’ve furthered my college education at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.”
