Study Abroad Experience Connects MCC Students to Spanish Culture
Dr. Kimberly Beatty, Chancellor.
In January, MCC students immersed themselves in Spanish language and culture during
a study abroad experience in Salamanca, Spain, traveling alongside instructors Chad
Montuori (MW) and Emily Armstrong (LV) as part of the SPAN 212 class.
Through a partnership with Berceo Spanish Academy, students studied Spanish each morning and spent afternoons exploring the rich culture through hands-on activities and excursions.
Highlights included living with Spanish host families, learning to make traditional dishes like paella and tortilla española, sampling plenty of delicious tapas, and visiting historic nearby cities such as Segovia and Ávila.
Building on the success of this experience, MCC is planning a summer 2026 trip to Florence, Italy, for art students, with a return to Salamanca already in the works for January 2027.
