We hope this communication finds you and your family healthy. We realize for many of you this has been a difficult time and continues to be as businesses and the community slowly reopen. The COVID-19 virus has significantly impacted many of us personally and financially in ways we never imagined. In MCC’s Phased Repopulation Plan the Maple Woods and Penn Valley fitness centers will not reopen until Phase III. While the start date of Phase III has yet to be determined, we do not expect to reopen the fitness centers until August 1st at the earliest. This date could be later based on the guidance of the CDC and state and local health departments for best practices on cleaning and safety protocols for repopulating college campuses.

When the fitness centers reopen, the new hours will be Monday – Thursday 7am – 5:30pm and Friday 7am – 3pm. The centers will be closed on weekends and when MCC is closed due to inclement weather, holidays, and winter/spring breaks.

MCC-Penn Valley Fitness Center will be offering a limited number of aerobics/group classes, whereas MCC-Maple Woods Fitness Center will no longer offer aerobics/group classes.

New community membership rates will be: Single $20/month or $225/annual; Couple $35/month or $400/year.

We understand this change may impact your ability to use the centers. If you would like to cancel your Penn Valley Fitness Center membership please email viki.clark@mcckc.edu. If you would like to cancel your Maple Woods Fitness Center membership please email sheila.juenger@mcckc.edu. MCC will issue refunds for prepaid memberships upon cancellation based on the number of days the center was closed after Friday, March 13, 2020.

MCC-Maple Woods is home to an excellent fitness center that is open to students and the community. The center is a licensed Les Mills club (coming in April: fat-burning Les Mills Body Pump & Body Step classes!).

MCC-Penn Valley is centrally located in the heart of Kansas City, and has a fitness center which offers a variety of equipment options as well as group classes for everyone.
