Darelle Wabo and Erin Fox were selected as student speakers for the 2024 Metropolitan Community College commencement ceremonies.
Metropolitan Community College commencement takes place at 1 and 6 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.
The $6.8 million, 9,366-square-foot facility, expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will house MCC’s newly expanded agriculture program.
He will succeed Kathrine Swanson, who is retiring from the College. Crider, a Missouri native, joined MCC in 2018 as dean of instruction at Longview.
At Flights of Fancy, visitors can expect to see mega-kites, power kites, stunt kites and more, including a 600-pound American-flag-themed kite.
The open house marks completion of the $4.7 million overhaul and expansion of the 40,500-square-foot facility, which is now home to MCC’s EMS/paramedic program (formerly at MCC-Penn Valley) in addition to the police and fire academies already located at Blue River.
For the fall semester, 3,006 students received the academic honor.
