We offer students access to both print and digital books, periodicals, videos, and computers with access to the internet and library databases.

MCC libraries subscribe to more than 40 databases on a wide variety of academic subjects, which include full-text articles and abstracts from journals, magazines and newspapers. Items not available at Longview may be requested through interlibrary loan.

Most circulating books and videos checkout for four weeks; items may be renewed two times unless there are outstanding requests.

Textbooks or other items placed on Reserve have a limited checkout period that is designated by the instructor. Periodicals and Reference works must be used in the library and aren’t available for checkout.

Who may borrow materials?

All current MCC students and employees may check out library materials. Borrowing privileges are based on current enrollment. A photo ID is required to check out items.

Reference assistance

Reference librarians are available to help students who want assistance with library resources. Chat reference is also available during regular business hours:

Library instruction and class visits

Please contact Librarian Sarah Ekey, 816.604.2266 to schedule an information literacy instruction session, a library tour or a class visit. Submitting the class assignment in advance would help us prepare for the presentation. Library instruction sessions are usually held in the library classroom, located on the first floor of the Learning Resources building, room LR 115.

Suggestions for collection development

Faculty members who have purchasing suggestions for library materials should contact Diane Martin.

Food/drink policy

Drinks with lids are acceptable in the library. All other eating and drinking should be confined to the campus cafeteria or other designated areas in campus buildings.
