Frequently Asked Questions
-
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a system which allows library patrons to obtain books from other libraries.
-
Students and employees of Metropolitan Community College (MCC) may use this service. MCC is a member of MOBIUS and other library consortia and participates in OCLC, an international bibliographic database and lending service. Persons not affiliated with MCC should contact their local public library or academic library to inquire about ILL services.
-
ILL usually involves books and articles from magazines, newspapers, and journals. Reference materials, nonprint items, and entire issues of journals are generally not available through Interlibrary Loan.
-
Delivery time varies due to distance, courier services, and item availability. Plan ahead and order early to ensure that needed materials arrive in time.
-
KC-Towers and MOBIUS loans are always free, but there may be fees for other types of interlibrary loans. The library will advise you of any fee before ordering an item.
-
You will be notified through student email when the item arrives in the library. All materials must be picked up at the library which ordered the item for you.
-
The return date will be marked on each item. Items should be returned to the library at MCC-Maple Woods on time to avoid charges.
-
Requests from MOBIUS can be made directly from the MOBIUS online catalog. Other ILL requests must be made at the circulation desk at the library. Contact the library for details.
