FALL 2023 / RATE / RATE 186Radiologic Technology
RATE 186 - Radiation Physics & Equipment (2.5 credits)
Prerequisite: RATE 160 and RATE 165 with a grade of C or better OR concurrent enrollment with RATE 165 & Admission to the Radiologic Technology program. Content establishes a basic knowledge of atomic structure and terminology, the nature and characteristics of radiation, x-ray production and the fundamentals of photon interactions with matter. Content also establishes a knowledge base in radiographic, fluoroscopic and mobile equipment requirements and design. Also provided is a basic knowledge of quality control.
