Early Childhood Education and Development

ECED 121 - Equity and Advocacy in Child Care and Education (3 credits)

Prerequisites: ECED 101 or ECED 117 with a grade of C or higher or concurrent enrollment. This course focuses on equity and advocacy as it applies to practices that affect children, families, and professionals within care and education settings. Students will learn equity-focused advocacy strategies related to professionalism, children, families, and the community. The course follows the guidelines of Kansas and Missouri Core Competencies for Early Child Care and Education Professionals and is aligned to level II of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators.
