Millwright

MCC's Industrial Millwright certificate gives you a solid education to enter the workforce in about a year.

Millwrights install, repair, replace and dismantle machinery and heavy equipment used in industries. They diagnose and solve mechanical problems, read blueprints, weld and work with mechanical, fluid power and electrical systems.

Modern millwrights work with steel, wood and other materials and to fabricate industrial machinery or assemble machines from pre-fabricated parts.

Why is this career called "millwright?"

Early millwrights were specialist carpenters who constructed machines used in early mills for grain, food processing and textile, lumber and paper production. Modern millwrights not only work with wood, but also steel and other materials.

Graduates can work as a welder, fabricator, maintenance welder, MIG/TIG welder, inspector, manager, salesperson, engineer, pipefitter and more. Our alumni work at construction companies, manufacturing companies, small businesses and maintenance companies.
