English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are taught at the MCC-Penn Valley campus. Day and evening classes are available. All instructors have a master's degree. Students have access to a computerized language laboratory, college library and the fitness center.

How to Apply

U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refugees and asylees apply online.

All students on a visa, DACA or undocumented must fill out a paper application. Visit MCC International Students for more information.

Placement Test

All incoming students are required to take the ESL placement test.
The first test is free of charge.

  • Testing may take 2-3 hours
  • You must bring valid government issued photo ID or passport to take the test
