English as a Second Language (ESL) Program

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are taught at the MCC-Penn Valley campus. Day and evening classes are available. All instructors have a master's degree. Students have access to a computerized language laboratory, college library and the fitness center.

How to apply

Apply to MCC
Entrance/placement testing
- All incoming students must take the ESL placement test.
- The first test is free of charge.
- Testing may take 2-3 hours.
- Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID or passport.

What does face-to-face classes mean?

Face to face classes will be held in person in classrooms on the MCC-Penn Valley campus.
What does virtual mean?

Virtual learning means: The course will be taught live with students attending via video conferencing (such as Zoom). Classes meet live during the days and times listed in the course schedule. Students will need reliable internet and computer access.
How long is a semester?
- 16 weeks for fall and spring; summer is 8 weeks
- Fall (August through December)
- Spring (January through May)
- Summer (June through July)
