MCC Board of Trustees approves service area memorandum of understanding with North Central Missouri College
May 20, 2021
At its Thursday, May 20, meeting, the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) Board of Trustees voted to approve a memorandum of understanding between MCC and North Central Missouri College (NCMC) that will alter the service areas of both colleges. Under the approved agreement, NCMC will now be the primary service provider for school districts in Buchanan County, Missouri, including the St. Joseph School District.
MCC will complete all necessary steps to teach out programs and students during the 2021-2022 academic year as required by all national and third-party accreditors for the programs currently offered through MCC at the St. Joseph School District's Hillyard Technical Center.
MCC entered into a memorandum of understanding with the St. Joseph School District in July 2019 to offer classes at Hillyard.
"This agreement between MCC and NCMC is an example of the ongoing cooperation between Missouri’s community college districts and the Missouri Community College Association," said MCC Chancellor Kimberly Beatty.
"I want to acknowledge the hard work many have undertaken to start and teach MCC classes in St. Joseph," Dr. Beatty added. "The programs MCC brought to St. Joseph were in response to calls for a need for additional skills training from the St. Joseph business community. We want to thank the partners we have worked closely with over the past two years, including the St. Joseph School District and the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. I’m very proud of the work the MCC team put into impacting the lives of students in St. Joseph."
Enrollment for the summer and fall semesters at MCC’s five Kansas City-area campuses and MCC Online is open. Summer courses begin June 7. The fall semester begins Aug. 24.
