Accessibility and comfort

With in-service being held at an arena venue, please expect a lot of walking and be sure to wear comfortable shoes! We also know it is wise to dress in layers, as the arena has gotten quite cold in the past.

If you have questions or concerns about mobility or accessibility, please reach out to Tina Hafner at 816.604.1109 or tina.hafner@mcckc.edu.

I have issues with mobility. What do I need to know about accessibility and getting to the arena floor for the event?

For those needing an alternative to stairs, there are two elevators you will need to use while you are at Hy-Vee Arena. The first is just inside the east entrance (behind the reception desk on the 100 level), which is the main entrance for our group.

This first elevator will take you up to the 200 level and concourse, where you will pick up your name badge. Then, to access the upper level of the arena (where the majority of our day’s activities will take place), employees with accessibility needs will use the elevator located on the south end of the arena to access the 300 level. Mobility access escorts will be available to assist individuals in reaching the correct location via MCC-provided wheelchair if needed.

Please contact Tina Hafner in advance at 816.604.1109 or tina.hafner@mcckc.edu if you will need assistance.

What should I do if I need an accommodation to participate?

If you need any accommodation to participate in this event, please contact Tina Hafner at 816.604.1109 or tina.hafner@mcckc.edu.

Will a lactation room be available?

Yes. Hy-Vee Arena has created a dedicated lactation space in suite 311. If you anticipate needing refrigeration during the day, please contact Tina Hafner at 816.604.1109 or tina.hafner@mcckc.edu.

Will there be a service project?

Yes!

This year we are collecting food and hygiene items to stock the MCC campus food pantries. Please consider bringing a donation of one or more items with you to the event. It’s not a competition… but we still can’t wait to see which campus gets most fired up to fill the pantry!
