FALL 2024 / ECED / ECED 115Early Childhood Education and Development
ECED 115 - Care and Education of Infants and Toddlers (3 credits)
Prerequisite: ECED 113 with a grade of C or higher. This course focuses on the unique characteristics of the growth and development of children from birth through 36 months. Emphasis will be placed on brain research, attachment, responsive caregiving, as well as implementing developmentally appropriate activities and learning environments for infants and toddlers. The course follows the guidelines of Kansas and Missouri Core Competencies for Early Child Care and Education Professionals and level II of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators.
