Legal and Paralegal Studies

LEGL 125 - Legal Research & Writing I (3 credits)

Prerequisites: ENGL 101 or higher, CSIS 115, COMM 100 or COMM 102, LEGL 100, and admission into the Legal and Paralegal Studies Program. This course provides an introduction to legal research and writing. Students will learn the techniques and skills necessary to conduct legal research, including use of a law library and computer-assisted research. Students will learn basic legal writing skills.

Technology Requirements: A PC or Mac computer (desktop or laptop) and high-speed internet connection and webcam/mic. Chromebooks, and other Android or iOS phones & tablets, cannot run the fully featured versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, and are therefore not recommended as a primary device. Students must have access to Microsoft Office 2019 or newer. Actively enrolled students are entitled to download and install Microsoft 365 Software on up to five devices.
