HIST 199C - Special Topics in History (3 credits)

Prerequisites: ENGL 101. Guided readings and discussion in history. Topics and material will vary by instructor each semester. Specific reading lists, activities and writing assignments to be determined by the instructor. This course is intended to go into detail and research beyond the material covered in the United States or Western Civilization survey courses.

TopicCivil Rights Movement
NotesTopic: Civil Rights Movement. Trip Dates: April 22-27, 2025. Add’l Fee of $695 applies which helps cover museum entry cost, hotels and transportation. The Civil Rights Pilgrimage allows students an opportunity to "journey back in time" to cities of the great civil rights marches and protests. Students will analyze crime scenes, visit historic civil rights landmarks and introduce to segregation laws and the social political history of the time. Although this is an integrated class team taught, students will have the option to enroll as a CRJU 167C credit or HIST 199C credit. Classes are taught on the bus and at some historic landmark locations. The Pilgrimage will travel to Greensboro, Wilmington and Charleston this year.
