Chemistry

CHEM 221 - Organic Chemistry I (5 credits)

Prerequisite: CHEM 112 with a grade of "C" or higher. In this course, students will learn the nomenclature, reactions, stereochemistry, and physical properties of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and alkyl halides. Additionally, an exploration of the mechanisms and kinetics of organic reactions, introduction to the chemical literature, and infrared, NMR, and mass spectroscopy will be covered.
