Radiologic technologists produce X-ray images of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical conditions. They prepare and position patients for radiographic examinations, protect patients from unnecessary radiation, utilize radiographic equipment and select appropriate radiographic technical factors for the examination being performed.
Personal Qualities and Essential Functions
Characteristics of a successful radiologic technologist include but are not limited to; intrinsically motivated, confident, honest, dependable, team player, flexible,adaptable, responsible and caring.
Essential functions necessary to perform the job skills required for radiologic technology include but are not limited to; manual dexterity, physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, verbal & written communication skills and the ability to read & understand physician orders.
Degree(s) and/or Certificate(s)
Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination. Successful completion of this examination allows program graduates to use the professional credentials RT (R), Registered Radiologic Technologist.
