The nursing division of MCC-Penn Valley requires all applicants to take the TEASTM (Test of Essential Academic Skills) as a part of the application process. The TEASTM is designed to determine academic readiness for the nursing program. There are minimum required scores on the TEAS for admission to the nursing program. The student will be informed of these minimum required scores at the time of testing. The TEASTM is a proctored timed examination that measures essential skills in Reading, Mathematics, Science and English and Language Usage. These are academic areas that have been identified as important skill sets for students entering a nursing curriculum. Method for determining eligibility for taking the TEASTM is outlined in the Admission Criteria document and contains additional information.

TEAS (ATI TEAS) is the Nursing placement test; TEAS scores are required for all of the nursing program applications. Testing must be completed BEFORE the application period begins. Register online here.

There are two areas the student can utilize to prepare for take the TEASTM:

  1. There is a Pre-Test Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills. The study manual will be available in the MCC-Penn Valley Bookstore. There is also an on-line study module available.
  2. A TEAS practice exam available at the TEAS online store.
