Be aware of important dates on the academic calendar. The academic calendar includes information about refund and withdrawal dates, midterms,
holidays, exam schedules, and more.
Students are responsible for attending classes as required by their instructors and
are responsible for officially withdrawing from classes. MCC regulations state that
an instructor may withdraw a student from class after a consecutive absence equating
to 15% of the total class time, or after total absences equating to 33% of the total
class time. An instructor may choose to enforce a stricter attendance policy. If so,
you will be notified of this policy by the instructor at the beginning of the semester.
An instructor may grant an exception to this policy after holding a conference with
Cellular Phones and Pagers
The use of cellular telephones, pagers, or any audible signaling devices in classrooms
and areas designated for studying, such as the library, learning center or laboratories,
is strictly prohibited. Students using such devices may be subject to disciplinary
Change of Address, Name Change
If you change your address or your name, you are responsible for updating your information
in the Records Office within ten days of the change. Be aware that address changes

Children on Campus
MCC provides environments that promote learning for students who are enrolled. Classroom,
studio, library, and laboratory environments are not appropriate places for children.
The campuses are also places of easy access to the public and do not have resources
to protect unsupervised children, which could place your child at risk. Therefore,
students are prohibited from leaving a child unattended at any college facility. Unattended
children will be reported to the Public Safety Office and the parent/guardian responsible
could face disciplinary action.
Computer Usage Policy
MCC encourages the use and application of information technologies to support the
instructional mission of the institution. Therefore, students have access to a variety
of technology resources on campus. The primary purpose of these resources is for college-related
activities only, and students are expected to follow acceptable standards for ethics
and conduct in their use of computing resources. MCC reserves the right to monitor
and record the usage of student computing if necessary.
MCC sends important communications to students through Student Email, a free, Web-based
e-mail account provided to all students. You should check your Student Email account
on a regular basis for important information from the financial aid and advising offices,
communications from your instructor, as well as general information of interest to
all MCC students. Student Email login details are included in a confidential mailer
sent to all new students. Student Email can be easily forwarded to your personal email
account so you don't miss important messages.

Metropolitan Community College (MCC) provides electronic mail (e-mail) resources to
support its institutional mission. This policy is in place to ensure the proper use
of MCC's student e-mail (e-mail) system and to inform users what is deemed acceptable
and prohibited use. Policy violations will be investigated by designated MCC officials,
will be dealt with in the same manner as violations of other MCC policies, and may
result in actions including the loss of computer use privileges, dismissal from the
college, and legal action. Acts of prohibited use may constitute a criminal offense.
Metropolitan Community College reserves the right to amend this policy at any time
at its sole discretion. The use of student e-mail is a privilege, not a right and
this policy does not convey contractual rights to the users of the e-mail system.
This policy covers all use of the Student E-mail system currently in use regardless
of platform. MCC provides e-mail services to students to assist them in their educational
pursuits, to facilitate creative exchange, and to provide a primary means of communication
between MCC and the student body.
- Acceptable Use- acceptable use includes:

- Prohibited Use- unacceptable use includes, but is not limited to:
- Personal use that creates a direct cost for the institution.
- Impersonating others through signature forgery or sending e-mail appearing to originate
from someone else ("spoofing").
- Sending documents or including the work of others in violation of plagiarism or copyright
- Sending or forwarding e-mail that is obscene, harassing, abusive, threatening, or
- Use of the system that interferes with the ability of others to conduct institutional
- Use of the system in violation of any law, regulation, or public or MCC policy.
- Unauthorized access to or transmission of e-mail accounts of others or attempting
to breach system security measures.
- Knowingly transmitting e-mail messages that contain computer viruses, Trojan horses,
corrupted files, hoaxes, worms, spyware or any form of malware.
- Use of the system for commercial purposes or personal financial gain.
- Representing oneself as an agent of the institution or making statements on behalf
of the institution.
- Use of the system in any manner that could cause, directly or indirectly, excessive
strain on computing systems or others' use of e-mail services or systems.
- Transmitting another's intellectual property or proprietary information without the
express written consent of the owner.
- Use of the system to conduct, promote or encourage illegal activity.
- Providing a third party with an individual's e-mail address or a list obtained from
within the institutional system without express written permission.
- Termination of Service will occur as follows:
- Suspicious activity - once a report of violation has been received and a recommendation
by the Dean of Students has been made, the e-mail account will be immediately disabled
pending the outcome of the investigation. The investigation will be conducted in accordance
with the Student Code of Conduct (https://mcckc.edu/conduct) as expeditiously as possible. Should an e-mail account be disabled, a copy of any
requested academic information in the account will be provided to the student.
- Students who are expelled - access to e-mail accounts will be terminated immediately.
The e-mail account will be deleted one month after expulsion date. New mail cannot
be accessed during this period. Requests for copies of e-mail and e-mail system contents
must be made to the Campus Dean in writing within 10 days following the expulsion
date. Upon the request of the Campus Dean, institutional IT staff may be granted access
to the mailbox to provide the information requested.
- Students who leave prior to graduating - e-mail accounts will remain active. The student
is responsible for making backup copies of their MCC student e-mail after their official

- Access and Disclosure
- Students should have no expectation of privacy regarding the e-mail system. Any communications
sent or received may be reviewed by authorized MCC authorities for purposes related
to institutional business. MCC reserves the right to access and disclose the contents
of students' e-mail without the consent of the user to the extent permitted by law.
This will occur when MCC believes it has a legitimate business or legal need and after
proper authorization has been obtained from the appropriate MCC authority. MCC reserves
the right to inspect and disclose the contents of e-mail communications under the

- Users should be aware that once electronic communications are deleted, they are unrecoverable.

itself does not collect personal information to provide to marketers, but other companies
use the Web for that purpose.
Financial Aid Eligibility
Federal regulations require that all students receiving federal aid funds maintain
satisfactory progress; failure to do so could result in termination of financial aid.

When you register for classes at MCC, you become financially obligated. It is your
responsibility to pay all charges on your account by the due date. If your financial
aid, scholarship, or payment from an external source becomes unavailable or is insufficient,
then you must pay the balance immediately upon notification. It is your responsibility
to ensure that your tuition and fees are paid in full.
If you plan to complete a certificate or a degree, you must apply for graduation in
the semester prior to the semester in which you plan to complete your requirements.
Application can be completed in your myMCCKC student center.
All student and employee vehicles must display a current parking sticker. Parking
stickers are free and are issued at either the Public Safety Office or the Campus
Information Center. Fines for parking violations range from $25 to $300 and must be
paid within 10 days at the Business Office. Failure to pay fines will result in the
restriction of grades and/or transcripts. Contact the Public Safety Offices for additional

Contact your academic advisor or use myMCCKC online system to add a new class or drop
an existing one.
MCC has transfer and articulation agreements with more than 20 four-year colleges
and universities in Missouri and Kansas to ensure that credits earned at MCC will
be accepted at those schools. Academic advisors can explain transfer options for students
seeking a bachelor's degree.
Firearms and other weapons are strictly prohibited on all colleges premises, buildings,
and grounds, except those carried by commissioned law enforcement officers.
Students are responsible for officially withdrawing from classes they do not plan
to complete. If you stop attending a class but remain on the class roster, you may
receive an "F" in the class. If you receive federal or state financial aid, you may
also be required to repay those benefits. Students may drop a class through their myMCCKC student center or by visiting with an advisor. Dropping a class after the 100% refund
period will result in a grade of "W" on the transcript. During the last 40% of a class,
students will receive a grade for their academic progress. Student who stop attending
class during this time period could fall below satisfactory academic standards and
therefore receive a failing grade.
Instructors are not required to withdraw you or to change a grade of "F" if you fail
to assume this responsibility. Withdrawal forms are available through an academic
advisor or from the Records Office.
