Inaugural trap shoot event raises $6K for MCC student scholarships
The sky was blue, the wind calm and the weather perfect for the inaugural Aiming for Success trap shoot fundraiser June 10. Sixty-plus participants gathered at Lake Lotawana Sportsmen's Club to learn about the sport of trap shooting and gun safety.
The event raised about $6,000, which will fund scholarships for police, fire, EMT and cybersecurity students through MCC's The Path Forward campaign.
Several MCC teams participated, but Team Winchester (also the event's shells sponsor) was victorious.
Congratulations to the MCC-Longview team -- Joey Barnhill, James Hicks, Lloyd Thompson, Danny Blurton and David Thomasson -- for having the best "MCC score." Special thanks to sponsors Kansas City National Security Campus managed by Honeywell, Side Pockets of Blue Springs (lunch sponsor), Feld Fire and Newmark Zimmer.
