A First Year Experience (FYE) is a program designed to foster a successful transition to the college environment through programs that create meaningful academic connections and build a community of support for new students.
The FYE program seeks to create space for students to define how they will engage, learn, and thrive at MCC through a series of FYE workshops, online activities, and elective events offered throughout the semester. Check the campus contact information below if you have additional questions.
Each week focuses on one of the following five FYE program learning outcomes:
College resources
Demonstrate a holistic understanding of the college, including navigating the academic structure and requirements, utilizing appropriate campus resources, and participating in comprehensive co-curricular engagement activities.
Academic success
Demonstrate skills and strategies to enhance academic success and an appreciation for intellectual inquiry.
Personal growth and development
Demonstrate independence and self-efficacy through personal growth and development resulting in the building of meaningful relationships with others, including peers, staff, and faculty.
Academic and career exploration
Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship of one's education to their personal and professional development.
Diversity and inclusion awareness
Engage in and contribute to campus life by participating in intercultural programming, exhibit inclusive behaviors and attitudes, and demonstrate shared responsibility for the growth and wellbeing of the campus community.
