Agriculture Education on the Move

Agriculture Education on the Move™ is a hands-on opportunity for children to engage in agriculture! Through lesson-based learning and STEAM activities, students learn about commodities grown in Missouri and where they go after leaving the field. Youth will learn about in-demand career pathways and gain a better understanding of the opportunities agriculture holds for everyone, no matter where your interests lie or which side of the city-limits you live on!

Join us for a four week adventure into:

  • Soybeans: Learn about the amazing little bean that touches nearly every part of your life: from haircare products to French fries to international trade, soybeans play an important role in Missouri's economy and our everyday lives. Compare and contrast dairy milk and soy milk and create your own germination necklace!
  • Beef Cattle Production: Missouri is ranked number 2 in cow/calf pairs. What does that mean? Come find out while learning about the ways today's cattle producers are producing more beef than ever before with fewer cows using genetic selection. We will take our own DNA samples and even see some real DNAafter we extract it!
  • Poultry and Egg Production: Poultry and Egg Production is an important part of Missouri agriculture. Learn about chickens and the journey of your scrambled eggs: from the chicken to your plate! We will dissect a hardboiled egg to learn about the different parts and their function and candle eggs to see the parts of the raw egg while still inside the shell.
  • Careers in Agriculture: We will explore careers in agriculture. Youth will use AgExplorer and explore career pathways in agriculture, the education needed to enter that pathway and salaries they can expect to earn! Youth will make a pizza, while talking about the different ingredients, where they come from, how they make it to our plate and the different career pathways associated with each one!
