Join in the fun at MCC’s College for Kids program.
MCC College for Kids offers enrichment opportunities for kids and teens ages 11-14 in a fun and safe environment where they will enjoy educational and hands-on learning activities in a college setting.
The classes are designed to engage kids in new experiences, develop new interests, teach meaningful skills and excite students about learning.
All students must be registered individually.

Apple Swift Coding
Students will learn fundamental computing concepts and programming with Swift for iOS development through daily web projects and design challenges.
Students will create an iPhone app that can be shared with friends and family.

Chess Camp
This camp is designed to introduce youth to chess strategy and tactics while having fun.
Chess coaches from the Kansas City Chess Club will show beginners through advanced students how to improve their play.
Daily activities will include casual play, chess lessons and training exercises, National Rated competition games, building Lego chess sets and chess boards, Bughouse and Fischer Random Chess.
Each student will receive a chess set, chess workbook and a chess medal. All levels are welcome!

Hero's Camp
Hero's camp will give participants an opportunity to explore what it's like to work in public service as a police officer, fire fighter, paramedic and lineman. Come spend four days at MCC-Blue River and learn how to serve your community by being a hero!

Clay Creatures
The participants will use their imagination to form known or yet to be seen clay creatures on tiles. They will use clay and colored slips to form and decorate their creations.

Musical Theatre Camp
If you like acting, singing, and dancing, then musical theatre is for you!
During the first week, actors will explore the production process through character development, choreography, and vocal work.
During the second week, actors will rehearse scenes, songs and dance numbers from a popular musical that they then will perform at the end of the camp for an audience.

Veterinary Explorations for Kids
This course is a guided exploration of the many facets of veterinary medicine.
Students will learn about animal husbandry, preventative wellness, as well as causes and treatment of common injuries and illnesses.
Topics will include a variety of animal species in addition to discussions about different career options related to the veterinary sciences.

Adventures in Coding: Scratch
Students will explore the basics of programming and make games, using visual interfaces like Scratch, then students will explore where these can be used to explore robotics and tactile game.

Students will explore the fundamentals of programming, storytelling, and music, using text-based interfaces like Python, then students will explore how these can be used to build entertainment and productivity programs.

Babysitter Training
This babysitting course will prepare students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children; how to stay safe; what to do in an emergency; includes American Red Cross Infant CPR along with First Aid.

Medical School for Kids
MCC Medical School for Kids is an immersive healthcare experience where students will get a taste of the healthcare professions.
The camp will be hosted at MCC’s state of the art simulation facility and will involve the participants in healthcare simulation.
Learning lifesaving CPR will be part of the program as well as exposure to healthcare careers they may have never even thought of.
Great camp for students trying to decide if their future lies in healthcare.

Cartooning & Comics
Learn to cartoon by developing your own characters and story. Make a comic book start to finish!
This 4-day class teaches students how to develop characters, write a script, and explore traditional drawing and digital art techniques.

What Do Graphic Designers Do?
Are you interested in seeing what it is like to become a graphic designer? We'll explore what designers do, the types of careers available, what skills are needed, plus create a project like the pros!
This 4-day class shows students the ins and outs of this field as they’re introduced to historical designers and their work, have discussions with Kansas City area designers and hear their professional stories.
Students will design a personal logo and print their own swag!

All students will need a parent or guardian to come in to drop off their child at the MCC classroom they will be attending.
For the safety of your child, parents/designated guardians will sign-in/sign-out their children in the morning and in the afternoon. It is recommended that students arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins.
Participants will be informed via email where their classes are held. If someone other than the registered designated guardian will be picking your student up, arrangements will be made in advance with approved documentation. View campus maps.

Campus dining services are not available in the summer. Students are responsible for bringing their own lunch each day for the full day camps, and refrigeration will not be available.
There are water fountains in our hallways; students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. 2 small snacks (1 snack for half day camp) will be provided throughout the day.

We will accommodate disabilities. Our disability Support Services (DSS) offices will provide special assistance for any student with documented disabilities.
To receive these services, you must inform the College of the student’s disability one month in advance of your class and provide documentation.

When College for Kids participants are on MCC campuses, our policy requires that everyone on our campuses abide by the district code of conduct. Disruptive students will be removed from the course.
If necessary, we will call parents for early pickup. Tuition refunds are not granted to students who are permanently removed from class.

Participants in our College for Kids programs are required to fill out the Emergency Notification Form.

We recognize you may occasionally need to drop your registration from a class.
You must cancel your enrollment no less than seven (7) days (five (5) business days) before the class start date to receive a full refund*, minus a $25.00 administrative processing fee and any other charges you may still owe.
New enrollments made after the seven (7) day deadline are subject to the same refund policy as are all classes, even as short as one day. Therefore, any drops within seven (7) days before the start of the class will forfeit 100% of the tuition.
Refunds may take several weeks to process and are dependent on your method of payment.
Checks may take up to 6 weeks please contact WED enroll before dropping a class that was paid by check to verify the return address. Refunds to debit/credit cards will vary based on your financial institution.
