Join in the fun at MCC’s College for Kids program.

MCC College for Kids offers enrichment opportunities for kids and teens ages 11-15 in a fun and safe environment where they will enjoy educational and hands-on learning activities in a college setting.

The classes are designed to engage kids in new experiences, develop new interests, teach meaningful skills and excite students about learning.

All students must be registered individually.

2025 Summer Camps

Summer of
Strategy: Chess Camp

This camp is designed to introduce youth to chess strategy and tactics while having fun.

Chess coaches from the Kansas City Chess Club will show beginners through advanced students how to improve their play.

Daily activities will include casual play, chess lessons and training exercises, National Rated competition games, building Lego chess sets and chess boards, Bughouse and Fischer Random Chess.

Each student will receive a chess set, chess workbook and a chess medal. All levels are welcome!

Splash of Color: Kids Watercolor Art Camp

Get ready to dive into the colorful world of watercolor painting! In this fun and creative one-week camp, young artists will explore the exciting techniques of watercolor art. From blending and layering to creating beautiful landscapes and vibrant abstract designs, students will discover how to bring their imagination to life with every brushstroke. Whether your child is a budding artist or just loves to experiment with color, Splash of Color is the perfect way to spark their creativity and boost their confidence with art!

Code Playground: iPhone App Adventures!

Join us this summer for an exciting journey into the world of coding!

Throughout this hands-on class, students will learn to use Swift, Apple’s programming language, to create their very own iPhone apps. They’ll explore fun coding challenges, collaborate on projects, and unleash their creativity by designing games and interactive applications.

 Each day will be filled with engaging activities, team games, and a chance to showcase their work. By the end of the session, participants will have the skills and confidence to continue their coding journey and a unique app to share with family and friends!

Sitters in Training: Babysitting Bootcamp

This exciting course will help students develop the skills to be responsible, fun, and reliable babysitters. They'll learn essential topics like caring for infants and children, staying safe on the job, handling emergencies, and more!

The course includes American Red Cross Infant CPR and First Aid certification, ensuring your child is fully prepared to handle any situation with confidence.

In this fun-filled week-long workshop, students will dive into the basics of acting, learn how to select and perform monologues, and develop skills to bring characters to life on stage.

With a mix of interactive lessons, improv games, and creative exercises, budding performers will build confidence, express themselves, and explore their imagination. Take center stage this summer and discover the magic of acting! The camp will culminate in a Student Showcase, where each participant will take the spotlight and perform their monologue for family and friends!

Veterinary Explorations for Kids

EngineerQuest: The Ultimate Kids Camp

Is your child excited about building, designing, and solving problems? Join us for an action-packed week at the Summer Engineering Camp, where kids dive into the exciting world of engineering! Located in a fun, hands-on outdoor classroom right next to the college's maker space, this camp is perfect for young minds eager to explore, create, and experiment.

Throughout the week, campers will tackle fun challenges using everyday materials to build amazing projects like submarines, robots that vibrate, giant marble runs, and even structures that can hold weight! Each day focuses on a different type of engineering—from building mechanical machines to designing cool robots and exploring how engineers protect the environment.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, kids will work together, think critically, and learn by doing. They’ll gain important problem-solving skills and learn how to take a design from concept to creation, all while using everyday items like cardboard, plastic bottles, and more. The camp’s hands-on, interactive approach ensures that campers are engaged, safe, and ready to unleash their imagination!
