Festival Overview

The 2009 MCC-Longview Literary Festival will feature readings, panel discussions, book sales and autographs. We have lined up a wonderful guest list including Kansas City Star authors Lewis Diuguid and Charles Gusewelle, comedians Brad Meehan and Andrea Caspari as well as authors of many different genres. A number of groups including the Kansas City Writers Place, Metropolitan Verse, Latino Writers Collective, the Kansas City Horror Club, and the Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writers Guild provide an area for sales of books to attendees.

Our featured speaker will be children's author, Richard W. Jennings, who will be speaking at 3:00 on Friday, October 2. The festival's special speaker, KCTV-5 Meterologist, Katie Horner, will be joining the fun on Saturday, October 3 at 2:00 when she joins Mad Science® for a weather experiment for children. The festival runs from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily and is free-of-charge for all attendees.
