MCC-Blue River PSI offers an agency contract pricing which is less expensive than the CEU hourly rate. (Exception: Instructor Development, First Line Supervisor and Kaminsky FTO are not covered on contract)

This four-hour block of training addresses legal and psychological issues that need to be considered when an officer is involved in a shooting or lethal confrontation.

INVESTIGATING SEXUAL PERVERSIONS AND FETISH CRIMES

This is a four-hour block of training which addresses sexual perversions that lead to the commission of crimes by those addicted to these behaviors, and methods to investigate these offenses.  Instructor Sgt. Roy Orth (ret.) worked in the KCPD Sex Crimes Unit for many years, investigating hundreds of these types of cases.

A three-hour block of training that discusses "racial profiling" issues for police officers and how to avoid complaints through bias awareness.  This course meets the POST requirement for three hours of racial profiling for the reporting period.

Investigating and Prosecuting Human Trafficking

(2 Hours Legal Studies, 2 Hours Technical Studies and 2 Hours Interpersonal Studies)

This class discusses current day issues regarding investigating and prosecuting criminal human trafficking and how the police officer can identify it, rescue victims and build a case file. The Instructor is Sergeant Jason Young from the Independence Police Department and Former Human Trafficking Task Force Member. This class will also feature the following special guest speaker: Jeff Blom, former KCMO Police Officer and Interpol Human Trafficking Investigator.

Academy instructors will discuss firearms survival issues and officers will utilize the MILO Laser Weapons in simulated scenarios.  CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 15 -- OFFICERS MUST REGISTER TO RESERVE A PLACE IN CLASS.  This course meets the POST-required four hours of firearms training.

In this eight-hour block of training, Drug Det. Pete Oulman will discuss the most common illegal narcotics and ways that will help street officers to identify them.  This includes "bath salts" and K-2, which is now becoming very popular in the Midwest. Det. Oulman will also discuss "interdiction" strategies.

RECOGNITION OF PHYSICAL CHILD ABUSE

Retired KCPD Sgt. Roy Orth will discuss physical and emotional signs which might lead an officer to believe that a child has been physically abused. Sgt. Orth spent eight years as Det. Sgt. over the child Abuse Unit in Kansas City.
