Institute for Workforce Innovation.

What sets the Institute apart is its holistic approach: help businesses run better and help individuals become better employees. It’s that simple.

Since 2009, the Institute has:

• Prepared over 7,000 students for entry-level jobs
• Contracted with over eighty companies to provide contract training, including Ford, GM, ATK, Hallmark, Harley-Davidson, Cerner and Honeywell
• Supported 25 area companies to receive $2,527,827 through the Missouri Customized Training Program (MCT)
• Helped companies receive $1,124,394 through Missouri New Jobs Training and Job Retention Training programs

For workers, the Institute offers short-term training, certificate programs, job placement services, professional development and personal development. The Institute’s research team works with area workforce boards, the Mid-America Regional Council and other organizations to determine where the jobs really are and who’s hiring. Our list of course offerings is constantly expanding to meet the needs of the unemployed, underemployed or those who are just looking to advance their career.

When companies lay off employees, the Institute is standing by to help retrain displaced workers to be more competitive in the job market or to stay sharp so that they may return to their old positions. The Institute’s programs don’t take two to four years, either. Short-term training means training that can occur in less than a year.

For businesses, the Institute offers an array of consulting services from assessment, recruitment, quality management, database solutions, and customized training, boasting the area’s only OSHA Training Institute Education Center. The Institute brings tremendous resources to the table, including five convenient campus locations, on-line classes, on-site training and partnerships with organizations at the local, state and national level.

One of the things that sets the Institute apart from other training/consulting services is our work with personal development. We help people develop basic workplace skills, including teamwork, communication and overall professionalism. In academics, this applies to literacy, GED tutoring, and other preparation to become not just better employees, but more accomplished individuals. Finally and perhaps most importantly, students get the social support they need to be successful, such as transportation and childcare that allows them to complete the coursework.
