Since 1990, the Francis Institute has served hundreds of sites, and impacted thousands of children, via onsite consultation services that are customized to each program's needs. Professional Development (PD) Specialists offer on-site services to assist providers in continuous quality improvement using our Strengths-Based Coaching™ model. Help is also provided for preparation for licensing, accreditation, and Quality Rating System (QRS) assessment. To promote change, PD Specialists empower adults by building on the strengths, knowledge, and skills of front-line practitioners, including directors, staff, family child care providers and other adults in the care and education field.
Resource Center Professional Development Specialists work closely with family child care providers, child care centers, and before and after school sites, to provide research-based, customized, on-site consultation. Specialists assist providers in creating high-quality learning environments that intentionally increase the development and skill set of children. Consultation services include partnering with providers to identify the program's strengths and opportunities for improvement, to identify goals and determine helpful resources, and to support the provider in achieving and maintaining goals. Specialists also recommend and present educational programs or workshops to enhance the professional development of program staff.
