MCC-BTC is certified as an American Welding Society training facility.
The AWS determines industry standards for welding and is recognized worldwide. The
AWS Level I and Level II curriculum has been implemented in all welding classes. 
These changes will better prepare our students for AWS certification and expand their
career prospects.
Degree and Certificates Awarded
MCC-BTC offers two job ready certificates to choose from as well as continuing education classes.
- Welding A.A.S. Degree
- Welding (MIG) Job Ready certificate
- Welding TIG/MIG Job Ready certificate
- Welding & Fabrication Job Ready certificate
Description
- Set up, operate, and tend welding, soldering, and brazing machines
- Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products
- Use robots to weld, braze, solder, or heat-treat metal products, components, or assemblies
- Reading comprehension, mathematics and critical thinking are essential skills of those in this field
Major types of welding taught at the state-of-the-art labs include:
- Shielded metal arc welding
- MIG
- TIG
- Pipe welding
- Oxy-acetylene gas welding & cutting
- Plasma cutting
Course work includes interpretation of welding blueprints, electrical fundamentals, welding metallurgy and American Welding Society (AWS) electrode classifications. Lab activities include the use of modern equipment and techniques currently found in the industrial environment. Our training provides a foundation for the successful candidate to enter the workforce with the necessary skills of the welding trade. Prepare for construction, general industry or manufacturing & fabrication work.
