The Speech and Drama Department at Penn Valley is also the home of a new Mass Communications program.

The core speech course is Speech and Drama (SPDR) 100 (Fundamentals of Speech). This course emphasizes the organization and delivery of speaking in public settings. In addition, there is a new Fundamentals of Human Communication (SPDR 102) course and other courses in speech and acting.

A new program in Mass Communications is currently being developed on the Penn Valley campus. Introduction to Modern Communication (MSCM 112) is the introductory course in this program. This course emphasizes the evaluation of media content in news, entertainment, and advertising.
