Deborah Craig-Claar
has been teaching speech at Penn Valley for 13 years.
In addition to Fundamentals of Speech, she also teaches
the new Fundamentals of Human Communication (SPDR 102)
course, which she also designed.
Dr.
Craig-Claar has also served as Associate
Dean of Instruction at Maple Woods Community
College (1993-1995), and was the Faculty
Association President at Penn Valley
until 2005.
Deborah
has a B.A. from the University of Redlands,
an M.F.A from Northwestern University,
and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas
City.
In
her spare time, Deborah enjoys travel,
composing gospel and country music, and
keeping up with her two teenage children.
She says her personal life axiom comes
from Marie Curie: Nothing in life is
to be feared - only understood.

Wilcox

Kim
Wilcox has been a full time member of the PVCC
Speech faculty since Fall 1999. Kim teaches various
classes in the Speech department.
Dr.
Wilcox has a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri
at Kansas City.
Before
coming to PVCC, Dr. Wilcox was the National Director
of Training for Supplemental Instruction (SI),
headquartered at UMKC. During this time, he trained
people at over 600 universities and colleges,
presented or keynoted at some 75 academic conferences,
and published articles and chapters about SI
and student academic assistance programs.
Dr.
Wilcox has also worked as a university and corporate
consultant, as well as taught Speech and Business
Communication courses at the Henry W. Bloch School
of Business and Public Administration at UMKC.
