Training Needs Analysis
Before you embark on another training endeavor, make sure you have a good understanding of the problem. Training programs are often prescribed as the "drug of choice" to address problem situations in organizations. However, until you fully understand a problem, you should be careful about proposing a solution. Training needs analysis targets critical training needs by comprehensively evaluating "What is the current situation" and comparing it to "What is the desired situation." These key performance indicators can help you begin to uncover the challenges to an effective and efficient workforce.Once you have identified that a training program is the correct intervention, the training needs analysis will also help you identify the nature and content of the training program. We know that the development of new skills, and the retention of new knowledge can be enhanced by training programs, but it is only beneficial to the bottom line if the training truly targets the learners' needs.
