Regional OSHA Education Center Hires Director
October 9, 2009 2:13:29 PM
The region’s authorized OSHA Training Institute Education Center has hired a director to oversee its training and consulting services. Annette Braam, a 25-year veteran of the occupational safety and health industry, will fill the newly created position.

The regional Education Center, located at Metropolitan Community College’s Business & Technology Campus, provides training courses and consulting services that help companies comply with occupational health standards set by the federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration, or OSHA. Braam will oversee the Education Center’s role in providing safety and environmental training courses for the region and providing consultative services in the areas of environmental management and occupational safety and health.

Prior to joining the Education Center, Braam spent 15 years with the Department of Defense as a safety and environmental manager and industrial hygienist and ten years as a consultant, developing safety and health programs, conducting comprehensive evaluations of workplace operations and hazards, and creating and delivering training courses for manufacturing, healthcare and industrial businesses.

The Education Center at MCC, which is the only center in the state of Missouri that provides OSHA-authorized training, has been offering courses across the Midwest since 1992, including many of the same programs offered at the OSHA Training Institute headquarters located in Illinois. Under Braam’s direction, MCC’s Education Center will expand services to guide businesses through the development of effective, comprehensive safety programs and fulfillment of safety requirements.
