ENROLLMENT IN THE VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMPlease review the following scholarships. If interested in applying, please click on the MCC Scholarship Application link to begin the process. Please pay attention to any additional requirements needed to complete your application (essays, financial aid report and/or recommendations). When complete, please take your application and all necessary paperwork to the MW Financial Aid Office to be forwarded to the MCC Foundation Office. ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER SCHOLARSHIP
RESIDENCY: In-district or in-stateAREA OF STUDY: Veterinary technology ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time or part-time (minimum of six credit hours) FINANCIAL NEED: No requirements OTHER: Complete at least 12 credit hours. Work part-time at Animal Medical Center at least 25 hours per week at current starting wage of $9.00 per hour (as of 12/5/06). Must submit a written recommendation from an instructor, college counselor, high school counselor or veterinarian. AMOUNT: $500 for tuition, fees and books.
LORI BARROWS SCHOLARSHIP
RESIDENCY: No requirementsAREA OF STUDY: Second-year student in animal health technology ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have a 2.0 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time FINANCIAL NEED: Must demonstrate financial need as shown on the Student Aid Report. AMOUNT: Based on available funds.
AURIEL CLEGG VET TECH SCHOLARSHIP
RESIDENCY: No requirementsAREA OF STUDY: Veterinary technology ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time FINANCIAL NEED: Must demonstrate financial need as shown on the Student Aid Report. First preference given to Pell Grant eligible students. OTHER: Student must have successfully completed 10+hours in the vet tech program. Student will submit a one-page essay addressing the following: How will you use this Vet Tech Scholarship to further your career goals? Scholarship is renewable for the current academic year if student continues to meet criteria. Selection of recipient will be made by the Auriel Clegg Vet Tech Scholarship Committee. AMOUNT: $1,000 per semester for tuition, fees and books. One award per semester.
COMMUNITY SHOW-ME SCHOLARHSHIP
RESIDENCY: No requirementsAREA OF STUDY: Veterinary technology program, first preference. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have 2.0 cumulative GPA. ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time or part-time (minimum of six credit hours) FINANCIAL NEED: Must demonstrate Pell Grant eligibility. OTHER: Must submit a written recommendation from an instructor, college or high school counselor. AMOUNT: Based upon available funds.
HEART OF AMERICA KENNEL CLUB, INC., BOB AND JUDY GOODIN VET TECH ENDOWMENT FUND SCHOLARSHIP
RESIDENCY: In-district and Leavenworth and Johnson Counties in KansasAREAD OF STUDY: Veterinary technology program ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time FINANCIAL NEED: Must demonstrate financial need (This means the Student Aid Report indicates financial need but student does not have to be Pell Grant eligible). OTHER: Be a student in good standing during initial semester in the vet tech program. Must submit a paper (max 500 words) describing experience with small and/or large animals, motivation for choosing the vet tech field and career aspirations including desired employment locale. First preference will be given to a child of a member of the Heart of America Kennel Club, Inc. Conditions for renewal: Must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA, with all passing grades and must be in good standing within the campus and the community. Selection of scholarship recipient will be made by the Heart of America Kennel Club, Inc. Scholarship Committee. AMOUNT: $500 per semester beginning with the spring semester award then renewed for the following fall semester.
HUMANE SOCIETY OF GREATER KANSAS CITY SCHOLARSHIP
RESIDENCY: In-district, or high school graduate of Wyandotte County, Kansas high school or Basehor-Linwood High School.AREA OF STUDY: Veterinary technology program. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time FINANCIAL NEED: Must demonstrate a written recommendation from an instructor or a high school counselor. Must submit a one-page essay on “How you plan to work with animals”. Conditions for renewal: must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and continue in the veterinary technology program. Selection of scholarship recipient will be made by the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City Scholarship Committee. AMOUNT: $500 per year ($250 per semester).
VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY CLUB SCHOLARHSIP
RESIDENCY: No requirements.AREA OF STUDY: Veterinary technology program ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Must have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA ENROLLMENT STATUS: Full-time (vet tech program) FINANCIAL NEED: No requirements. OTHER: A letter of recommendation from the vet tech program coordinator at Maple Woods. Renewable upon the recommendation of vet tech program coordinator. AMOUNT: Based upon available funds. |
