Geography Program

 

Geography is the study of Earth and its landforms, features, human populations and culture, and interactions with the natural environment.

As a discipline Geography contains several subfields including:

  • Geographical Information Systems (GIS): the use of integrated software for storing, editing, analyzing, and displaying geographically referenced information.

  • Human Geography: the study of people, how they interact over space and the natural landscape.

  • Physical Geography: the study of human relationships to the natural environment including landforms, climate patterns, soils, and vegetation.

  • Regional Geography: is the study of the special systems and relationships in specific locational settings.

  • Systematic Geography: the study of the interrelationships with special systems and areal patterns for a specific physical environment or human society.
