  • This publication provides information on the Youth Development Credential. The Credential is an opportunity for adults working with school-age children to gain professional recognition for demonstrating their competence and knowledge as they work in youth serving programs. The Missouri School Age Community Coalition (MOSAC2) has developed the Youth Development Credential.
  • The Forum for Youth Investment (the Forum) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping communities and the nation make sure all young people are Ready by 2™ - ready for college, work and life. This goal requires that young people have the supports, opportunities and services needed to prosper and contribute where they live, learn, work, play and make a difference.

    The Forum provides youth and adult leaders with the information, technical assistance, training, network support and partnership opportunities needed to increase the quality and quantity of youth investment and youth involvement.
  • The Missouri School Age Community Coalition is a non-profit organization that supports and unifies professionals in providing quality out-of-school programs.
  • Our Mission is to ensure that all children, youth, and families have access to high quality programs, activities, and opportunities during non-school hours.

    NIOST believes that these experiences are essential to the healthy development of children and youth, who then can become effective and capable members of society. Our work bridges the worlds of research and practice.
  • It is our mission to be the leading voice of the afterschool profession dedicated to the development, education and care of children and youth during their out-of-school hours. The National AfterSchool Association is the only national professional association for the afterschool field. With over 9,000 members and 36 state affiliate organizations, NAA represents the voice of the afterschool field in the areas of professional development, program quality, public policy and current issues affecting children and youth in their out of school time.

    NAA's membership includes practitioners, policy makers, researchers, and administrators representing all public, private, faith-based, school-based and community-based sectors. NAA's members work in school age child care programs, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA's, 4H, Parks and Recreation Departments, and other before school, after school and summer programs.
  • Providing assistance, training, and tools to help state and local practitioners develop high-quality, balanced programming to engage student learning.
  • National Youth Development Information Center is a one-stop website for youth workers with interest in any and all of the following areas: funding, programming, research, policy, job and training opportunities. NYDIC also provides current news to the youth development field and has one of the largest online libraries, providing practice-related information at low-cost or no cost. NYDIC provides constant opportunities for practitioners to share knowledge and experience, enabling them to build the best practice in the field of youth development. NYDIC is an initiative of the National Collaboration for Youth.
  • The Next Generation Youth Work Coalition brings together individuals and organizations dedicated to developing a strong, diverse after-school and youth development workforce that is stable, prepared, supported and committed to the well-being and empowerment of children and youth. We believe that this entails progress in at least five key areas: standards and competencies; professional development and training resources; learning delivery systems; career ladders and compensation guidelines; and research and evaluation systems. The primary role the Coalition is to inform and support ongoing discussions about the public policy, institutional, organizational and individual changes needed to create a stable, prepared, supported workforce. The Next Gen Coalition is supported by Cornerstones for Kids, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the Lilly Endowment.
  • The OPEN Initiative is an "umbrella" under which many career development efforts occur. OPEN's primary focus is the development and implementation of a career development system for early childhood and school-age/after-school professionals.

  • School-Age Notes is a publisher and retailer of books, videos, DVDs, music CDs and other resources for after-school professionals and after-school programs and summer programs geared to school-age children.   • Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets® are concrete, common sense, positive experiences and qualities essential to raising successful young people. These assets have the power during critical adolescent years to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults.
