Internet Explorer and Firefox are the recommended browsers for accessing and using Blackboard. You must go to the Browser Settings links below to insure that your browser is set to work with Blackboard.
Internet Explorer 6.x Browser Settings
Internet Explorer 7.x Browser Settings
Not sure which version you have? In the IE toolbar click Help > About Internet Explorer
If you use AOL to access Blackboard, you may experience difficulties. Please follow the hints below to ensure that Blackboard functions normally in AOL.
If you are having any problems using AOL with Blackboard, please try the following steps:
When AOL is not in use while you are working on your class(es) using Internet Explorer, AOL will consider the user inactive and will disconnect the user after a period of time.
To remain active and avoid being disconnected, return to the main page of AOL (every half hour or so) and click on a link, check email, or check the weather (just do something in AOL). Following one or all of these tips will reset the AOL "inactivity timer." Then continue working on your online course using Blackboard and Internet Explorer.
Word processing software is required (Microsoft Word is recommended). If you use MS Works, please save your file as "RTF" files so that your instructor can open them.
Open Office provides free word processing software.
