At MCC-Penn Valley, you can earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing in just four semesters, following the completion of admissions requirements including three prerequisite courses.
Starting salaries for those who complete our program are typically $20 to $25 an hour.
Our graduates have jobs waiting for them! Because of a current labor shortage, nurses are definitely in demand. In fact, 98 percent of our graduates are currently employed in nursing or a related field. The MCC Research department maintains a publication detailing the career outlook for RN program graduates.
We've established transfer agreements with several local four-year colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Webster University. These agreements allow all of your Associate of Applied Science degree courses from MCC-Penn Valley to count toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
The nursing program at MCC-Penn Valley prepares the student to be a nurse-generalist. Upon graduation the student is eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses. You'll find our nursing graduates working in hospitals, medical clinics, doctors' offices, acute care facilities, and long- and short-term care facilities.
You'll experience a hands-on and interactive learning environment that is warm, encouraging and challenging. We believe in a high-tech, yet holistic approach to health care. We're also very proud of our diverse student body.
Students receive lots of individual attention. In addition to classroom instruction, students learn through hands-on, practical work in our laboratories, where they practice actual patient procedures. They also complete clinical rotations at local hospitals, clinics and community health care facilities.
We meet the highest standards in the nursing field. Our program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc, and approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
