Writing
Fellows -
The Writing Fellows Perspective
|
| Writing Fellows are students from a wide range of disciplines trained to help students learn to help themselves with writing by giving thoughtful feedback on drafts of projects and specific suggestions on how to revise those drafts. | |
| Writing
Fellows work as peer coaches, conferencing with students individually about
their assignments. Writing Fellows have previously taken the course from
the participating instructor and are selected because of their strong written
and interpersonal communication skills. Participation is considered an academic
honor; Writing Fellows receive honors designation on their transcript and
a stipend each semester they are in the program. Writing Fellows receive intensive training from the WAC specialist and work closely with their instructor.
What Writing Fellows say: "I believe I have become a more reader-friendly writer." "It gives students another opportunity to succeed." "The strongest feature of this program is the unique relationship between the student, fellow and teacher."
