Writing Fellows -
The Faculty Perspective
When they begin the Writing Fellows program, faculty members participate in an introductory workshop focusing on the major premises underlying WAC. The workshop is followed by an ongoing series of individual consultations with the WAC Coordinator to discuss course objectives, determine what kind of writing would benefit their students most, and collaboratively design assignments which support course goals and promote student learning.
Faculty participants meet as a group once during the semester to share ideas, assignments, concerns, and to learn more about special topics, like evaluation of student writing or incorporating Internet use into writing projects.

What faculty say:

“I came away thinking about alternatives for my courses.”

“I continue to clarify what I want students to learn through writing and how they should learn it.”

“I really like the association with colleagues.”
