WAC Course Features

“Writing Intensive” is a curricular designation indicating that a specific set of writing experiences will occur in a course regardless of the course content or discipline. This label is a signal to students that a particular course offers these experiences.

 

WAC COURSES might include any or all of these features:
  • Write-to-learn strategies employed
  • Writing process accommodated
  • Revision of student work encouraged
  • Writing Fellow provided
  • Peer appraisal process used
  • Instructor provides oral or written response to drafts of student work
A course designated “WRITING INTENSIVE” will:
  • Require revision of project(s)
  • Provide student with oral and written response from instructor to drafts of project(s) to provide feedback on performance and guidance for revision
  • Provide an array of writing opportunities, both formal and informal
