Writing Across the Curriculum

To improve student learning by teaching students to use writing as a tool for learning course content
To provide students further opportunities to continue to develop their writing skills beyond the English curriculum
To better prepare students for the Writing Intensive experience they will encounter in the curriculum at the four-year schools to which they will transfer.
To better prepare students for the expectations about written communication skills they will encounter in the workplace.
To recognize the time and energy required of faculty to provide this experience and these opportunities within their courses.
To provide the necessary faculty support and required training to operate a course as “Writing Intensive.”
To meaningfully contribute in a theoretically sound and methodologically appropriate manner to the further assessment of student writing skills.
