Instructors in our program are individuals who work in the field and are Engineering/Land Survey company owners.  They are knowledgeable about what is current and relevant to the industry and use that expertise in the classroom. All of our current instructors have received the majority of their course work for licensure through MCC-Longview.

Our program is also endorsed and monitored by several Engineering/Land Surveying companies in the Kansas City area.  Their input makes sure that the curriculum is relevant and meets the needs of prospective employers, as well as the state licensing requirements.

Student Testimonials:

Math 105 reviews:

Pat Boren, Land Survey Student:  (excerpt from email to Janet Wyatt) I thought I would take a moment and Thank You once again for all your help. Had it not been for your patience and willingness to allow me some latitude with my tests, and other assignments, I would not have passed this course. I'm uncertain of my final grade at this point, but I am well pleased with what I have learned from this course. I am one that needs to learn something and then put it to practice everyday, in order to retain it. I look forward to putting all that I have learned this semester, to good use. By doing so, I will cement this knowledge into memory........... Know that this semester has been an eye opener for me, and one that has motivated me to be a surveyor, now more than ever. If for no other reason, I love the math. I Thank you again for your time and efforts.

Paul Maurin, Land Survey Student:  This was a great course. Ms. Wyatt was always available for help. It was especially convenient for me because I have a newborn. I was able to do all the work online, I did not have a commute to a classroom, and all of my questions were answered immediately.

Gordon Sires, Land Survey Student, Surveys Inc.:  I have worked for a company called Surveys Inc. for the last two years. In this company you start as a basic rod man and work your way up. I am fortunate to work under one of the best crew chiefs I've ever met. He over the last two years has taught and developed me to be a diligent crew chief. One of his things is that before I use a calculator or anything else I need to learn the calculations long hand. Participating in Mrs. Wyatt's class has been really helpful. Though I learned to do the calculations long hand, I forget some of the basics when I rely on my alpha numeric programmable calculators. As I have gone through this class, I learned some new things and covered some old. I have really enjoyed working through this class and the foundation it has given me for surveying calculations.

Land Survey Program reviews:

Kellan Gregory, LSIT: As an MCC Land Survey graduate and AAS holder, I would highly recommend the available courses to be taken by those wishing to further their education and involvement in the land surveying profession.  Each one of the classes proved to be very informative and have helped immensely in the day to day operations that my position requires.  I believe that the college has been very interested in coming alongside of professional land surveyors to present a curriculum that is up to date and relevant to the land surveyor of today.  The instructors were all very professional and would make a very concerted effort to be available to answer any questions that I had.  Their combined knowledge of the land surveying field has been very beneficial, both in and out of the classroom.  These courses have prepared me for my state exams and have broadened my horizons in the profession of land surveying.

Shane Neuhaus, Missouri Valley Engineering and Surveying, Inc.: I have gained a lot from taking surveying classes at MCC. I work in the Engineering Dept. but the knowledge gained from the courses I took is still used. Whether it is putting tracts of land together with deeds or finding coordinates of a section corner. The information received from these courses will help me with my career. Also the teachers at MCC are very knowledgeable and friendly.
