Dr. Drew Wilkerson joined Metropolitan Community College in 2022 as associate vice chancellor of academic affairs, overseeing instructional services and initiatives across all campuses. In January 2026, he was named the inaugural president of innovation and online learning at MCC-Online, where he oversees academic innovation initiatives across all MCC campuses and leads all operations of the Online Campus.
Wilkerson has worked in education for 20 years at both the secondary and postsecondary levels, including more than 15 years in higher education in a variety of roles. His career in education began as a high school mathematics teacher in Gilbert, Arizona.
Before joining MCC, Wilkerson served at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky, where he earned tenure as an associate professor of mathematics, served as mathematics department head, and was later appointed mathematics division dean and then assistant vice president of academic affairs.
A recognized innovator, Wilkerson has led the development of numerous programs and initiatives resulting in record student success, including the Accelerate to College program at Jefferson, nationally recognized by the Southern Regional Education Board in 2021.
A native of the Chicago area, Wilkerson earned an Ed.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky, an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Brigham Young University–Idaho. He has served as a panelist and presented at numerous regional and national conferences and professional meetings in support of student success and academic innovation.
