Dr. Daniel Powell, Vice Chancellor of Instruction and Student Affairs

Dr. Powell began his service to Metropolitan Community College in 2026 as the Vice Chancellor of Instruction and Student Affairs. In his role, he provides oversight of daily operations for districtwide planning, development and evolution of instructional programs, career and technical education, academic and career pathways, and districtwide student support services.

Dr. Powell is an advocate for low-cost access to high quality education that enables social and economic mobility for learners. He has worked in higher education for over two decades dedicated to this mission. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Powell served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer/College Provost at Pasco Hernando State College where he provided strategic and operational oversight and support to Campus Provosts and Deans in all academic areas and institutional effectiveness to support student needs in five campuses in two counties.

He has also held roles as the Vice President of Academic Success at Northwest Vista College, Dean of Arts & Humanities at Laramie County Community College, Music Chair at Patel Conservatory in the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Associate Dean and tenured faculty at Chipola College, and Executive Director of Chipola Regional Arts Association.

Dr. Powell earned a Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University, a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Texas A&M University. He later completed a Master of Business Administration degree from Troy University.
