CHEM 221 - Organic Chemistry I (5 credits)
Prerequisite: CHEM 112. Nomenclature, reactions, stereochemistry, and physical properties of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, and allkyl halides. Exploration of the mechanisms and kinetics of organic reactions. Introduction to the chemical literature and to infrared, NMR, and mass spectroscopy.
