However, the academic resume focuses on your academic achievements and social involvements from your freshman to senior year of high school. This resume should be included with college admission and scholarship applications. An EOC counselor can provide assistance with developing and/or editing your academic resume.
Continuing Education/GED Referral and Placement: The first step to furthering your education beyond high school, is obtaining a high school diploma or its equivalent. EOC can provide you information on GED class sites, sample exam questions, and testing centers.
College Planning & Selection: The college planning process begins long before your senior year. Selecting a college to attend will be one of the most important decisions you will make. Beginning with the right college planning process can make the decision and process less stressful. An EOC counselor can guide you in the college planning process and assist you in selecting a postsecondary institution that will meet your educational goals.
College Admission Application Assistance: If you are interested in attending college, you must first submit an admission application. EOC has college catalogs and admission applications available as well as access to computers for on-line applications. An EOC counselor can assist you in locating and completing the necessary applications for the college admissions process.
Financial Aid Application Assistance: Paying for college can be a major obstacle. Financial aid begins with filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. An EOC counselor can assist you with accurately filing your FAFSA electronically; enabling you to receive your financial aid more quickly.
Scholarship Search Guidance: An EOC counselor can assist you in where to search for scholarships and in unraveling the scholarship application process. Computerized scholarship searches and other research materials are available at the EOC office.
Career Counseling: Through testing, you can identify your vocational interests, skills and work values. With this information, an EOC counselor can provide you information on the employment outlook and education required for the careers identified by the test results.
Defaulted Student Loan Counseling: Defaulted student loans will not go away! They will continue to accrue interest and possibly collection costs also. An EOC counselor will explain your options regarding the defaulted student loan and assist you in getting out of default.
